University of Mary Washington - **CLASS OF 2009**

SHALOM. PEACE. SALAAM.
Ahlan wusahlan!
[No, I'm not a hippie. Personally, I think they've got some weird ideas about peace. But let's not go there.]
Liora is my Hebrew name.
Contrary to "popular" belief (apparently I look Jewish to many), I am not Jewish. I am a non-denominational Christian, and I love Jesus. And my life and my journal here will talk about that a lot.
Take that as a warning if you want to. I dislike backward judgements on Christians (or anyone for that matter), and I know that many people groan when just MEETING one, so it is a semi-disclaimer. You are free to actually IM me, e-mail me, or whatever you want if you have gripes with me rambling on about Jesus. If you really can't stand the language, please move on. Shukran.
I am a PSCI/enshallah (God willing...I do the paperwork) Middle Eastern Studies major here at the University of Mary Washington.
I am a sophomore.
I come from strange roots from both sides of my family, therefore, I am strange. I personally like having a multi-ethnic physical makeup. I've been called everything from Eurasian to Chinese and Eskimo to Native American. My family is no less strange than I, but I love them to pieces.
I am studying Arabic and Farsi currently. I am obsessed with those two languages. I want to work in the Middle East and North Africa. My interest is not so popular among friends and family, but as God was the one who put it in my heart, it will not be going anywhere anytime soon. I've really got a heart for the area, and I have read a lot of cultural literature about it (favorite authors being Elizabeth Fernea, Marianne Alireza, and Afschineh Latifi)
I love listening to music (if you're on campus, you'll probably see me with my mp3 player a lot). I like Christian music (like Joy Williams), worship music, Israeli music, and Arabic music. My favorite artists from each genre would be Rebecca Saint James, Roni Duani, Ninet Tayeb, Haifa Wehbe, Nancy Ajram, Yasmin Levy, etc.
I am a political conservative. I personally like the idea of a monarchy. Yeah, you heard me!
I'm tired of discussing me...;)
I love my friends and my family. I am not the type to carry "best friend" keychains, write shout outs on my myspace, and take 200000 pictures with them. I just like being who I am with them and spending time with them.
That is about it, I guess.
Ma'a salaam!
